The What If Foundation is committed to protecting our donors, partners and website users’ privacy and security. This policy explains what types of information is collected by the What If Foundation’s website whatiffoundation.org and how this information is used.
Personal information collected
At our Site, we only collect Personally Identifiable Information when voluntarily and knowingly submitted by a visitor. You can have general access to our Site and browse pages describing our organization without providing any personal information or being required to register at our Site. If you choose to donate to the What If Foundation, whether by telephone, postal mail, or this Site, we will collect certain required financial information from you (such as your credit card information if you choose to submit your donation in that manner, and the donation amount).
Online donations are processed by Salsa Labs, a third-party service provider, and you should read the section below entitled “External Links” and familiarize yourself with the privacy terms of all external sites before using them.
Any personal information will be deleted upon request by email to info@whatiffoundation.org and you can unsubscribe from our newsletters by clicking the “unsubscribe” feature at the bottom of our emails.
Demographic and profile data (i.e., age, gender, browser usage) may also be collected and used to improve marketing and promotional efforts, statistically analyze site usage, improve content and to customize site content, layout, and services. Additionally, this data may be shared with third parties on an aggregated basis. The What If Foundation does not share personally identifying information with third parties, except to a court or governmental agency if required by law.
IP addresses
The What If Foundation uses your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer www.whatiffoundation.org, and for statistical metrics used to track website visitor traffic.
Cookies
Visitors to our Site should be aware that non-personal information and data may be automatically collected by our Site through the use of “cookies.” “Cookies” are small pieces of data sent to your computer browser from our web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. The data identifies you as a unique user and facilitates your ongoing access to and use of the Site. Cookies may be used by us to, among other things, recognize repeat visitors, frequency of visitor use, store user preferences, and to track information and usage behavior. By tracking user trends and patterns of how people search, we can better understand our user base. This helps us deliver better information and services, improve the content and administration of our Site, facilitate use of our Site by visitors and generally enhance your online experience when you visit our Site.
Cookies also help us to diagnose problems with our server. We use “cookie” technology only to compile aggregate data about your visits to our Site and not to obtain personal information. We may use this information to collect demographic information and develop statistics about our user base. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to block all cookies from being loaded onto your computer or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Please be aware, however, that refusing cookies can affect the performance of web sites and cause some parts of our Site to not function properly.
How Your Information May Be Used
We use your personal information to provide you with personalized service; to send e-mail alerts; to answer your requests; to process your donations; etc. You may choose to opt out at any time, which will cease all communications from us. We may also use your information to track visits of our website. This lets us see which of our features are the most popular so we can better serve our users’ needs. It also lets us provide aggregate data about our traffic (not identifying you personally, but showing how many visitors used which features, for example) to outside parties.
Email Privacy
The What If Foundation does not provide, sell, or rent email addresses to anyone outside the organization.
External Links
The What If Foundation website may include links to other websites, however these links do not fall under this Policy, and the What If Foundation is not responsible for the data collection, privacy and information sharing policies and procedures or the content of external websites. For example, online donations to the What If Foundation are facilitated by third party service provider. When you follow links to make such a donation, you will be linked to our service provider’s website, which is subject to separate privacy and other terms and conditions. Please familiarize yourself with the individual policies of each of these sites before submitting your personal information.

We may amend this privacy policy from time to time; please review it periodically. We maintain the option to modify this privacy at any time by electronic notice posted on our website. Your continued use of our website after the date that such notices are posted will be deemed to be your agreement to the changed terms.
