Please join us in welcoming Khyia Jennette, the newest member of our team, to the What If Foundation. Khyia joins us from Baltimore, Maryland assuming the role of Development Manager and is looking forward to getting to know our current supporters while increasing efforts to diversify our funding base.
After graduating from the State University of New York at Albany in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Khyia jumped right into a career in fundraising and development, a natural fit for her strong work ethic, communication skills, and desire to support the provisioning of basic resources for those who live in the margins of society.
While in school, Khyia served as a Communications Fellow in Albany, NY for the Mayor’s office, igniting her passion for service. Upon graduation, she served as Development Associate at the New York State Defenders Association and most recently the Development Manager at Advancing Real Change, Inc. She has passionately dedicated her career to supporting grassroots efforts, specializing in community outreach, communications, and fundraising.
With a strong interest in food security and education, Khyia was drawn to What If Foundation’s mission to partner with and support community-based organizations in Haiti. As a Haitian American, Khyia wants nothing more than to be a significant force in providing food security, education, and resources to Haitians who are so desperately in need. Khyia is particularly interested in elevating the inspiring experiences, hopes and dreams of Haitians who continue to fight for a brighter future.
“Haitian history has always played a large role in my life and the lives of those who look like me. Much of what we learned in school about Haiti never truly shed light on the amazing feat Haitian’s accomplished by being the first country to abolish slavery through efforts led by their own people. My passion to see the people of Haiti become self-sustainable, healthy and stable through education and food programs is what brought me to What If Foundation. Through natural disasters and general hardships, Haitian people have endured it all and are the embodiment of what strength and resilience looks like.
I am proud to join the What If Foundation as Development Manager. I look forward to using my experience, expertise, and knowledge to ensure these programs are sustainable and have the possibility to expand across Haiti. I am excited for the opportunity to work with and support our Haitian partners in the Ti Plas Kazo community of Port-au-Prince.”Khyia Jennette, Development Manager, What If Foundation
With much excitement and anticipation for what’s to come, we warmly welcome Khyia to the What If Foundation family.
With gratitude and hope,
What If Foundation
