The What If? Foundation funds a seven-week  camp that takes place at the St. Clare’s Church rectory (the same site as the food program). Members of the St. Clare’s community run and staff the camp, teaching valuable skills that could be a source of income later in life.

In a neighborhood without organized sports or other child enrichment activities, this camp is loved by the 500 children who attend and their parents. In addition to five hours of classes, each child receives a hot lunch from the food program.

Classes include: music, sewing, baking, sculpting, painting, basic computer skills, knitting, embroidery, calligraphy, jewelry-making, dance, English, and photography.

” I would like to thank everyone who donated to help us have our summer camp in 2009!  All the children had such a joyous summer… We are praying for another camp in the year 2010.  It is the highlight of the year for so many children who otherwise would not have the opportunity to have this much fun, learn income producing skills, and eat a nutritious meal.  I believe this camp will make a big difference in their future.”

We just reached our goal to expand the camp into an After School Program!  Classes in baking, computers, and sewing will continue throughout the school year.
